As part of a series of one-off Bite Sussex food and drink events around the August bank holiday weekend, distillers are joining together for a Cocktails & Canapés night on Thursday 25 August to support the Brighton Toy Museum’s redevelopment of their Trafalgar Street facade.
Madame Jennifer Distillery, Ditchling Spirits and Ramsbury Distillery will each be presenting a bespoke cocktail inspired by a toy from the collection. Whilst sipping on drinks, guests will be invited to explore the fascinating exhibits and enjoy aperitivo style sharing platters of Sussex cheese and charcuterie from Curds and Whey on Western Road in Hove.
Located in the arches beneath Brighton Station, Brighton Toy and Model Museum hosts a vast collection of vintage toys ranging from puppets to working model railway sets. Visiting the museum is an immersive visual experience that plunges the visitor into a different world, as seen through the eyes of artists and designers responsible for the Golden Age of British and European toymaking.
“We love bringing together local producers and chefs for unique events such as this”, said Nathalie Gomez de Vera, co-director of Bite Sussex. “The opportunity to work in fascinating spaces like the museum offers food and drink lovers never-to-be-repeated memorable experiences”.
“Its also a really positive way for us to raise money for a deserving project that will benefit not only the museum itself but also the wider locality for both locals and visitors”.
Other BITE Sussex events at the end of August include an Under the Sea immersive dining experience at Sealife Brighton with the team from Isaac At restaurant and a yard takeover of Brighton Bier Brewery with special guest Momma Cherri serving up the soul food.
Limited advance tickets for Cocktails and Canapés at the Brighton Toy Museum are priced at £29.95 and include three cocktails and snacks. All proceeds from the event will be put towards the museum’s Trafalgar Street regeneration project. Buy online at www.brightontoymuseum.co.uk
