Restaurant Interlude at Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens near Horsham achieved a double triumph at the prestigious AA Hospitality Awards this week, writes Nick Mosley.
The restaurant scooped the awards for both AA Restaurant with Rooms Overall Winner 2025–2026 and also received a coveted Four AA Rosettes.
Hosted by AA Hotel and Hospitality Services, the annual ceremony – presented by TV personality Vernon Kay – celebrates the very best in British hospitality across 18 categories.
Already home to a Michelin Star, a Green Michelin Star and ranked 49th best restaurant in the UK at the National Restaurant Awards, Interlude’s latest accolades confirm its standing among the country’s most exceptional restaurants.
The awards recognise the vision of executive chef Jean Delport and his team, alongside the hospitality of Leonardslee House, which offers ten elegant bedrooms to complete the experience.
“We are absolutely thrilled”, said Penny Streeter OBE, owner of Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens.
“These honours are a testament to the extraordinary talent of Jean Delport and his team, as well as the dedication of everyone at Leonardslee. We are so proud to bring national recognition to Horsham and West Sussex and delighted that guests can enjoy both world-class dining and exceptional hospitality at Interlude.”
Earlier this year, Interlude’s executive chef Jean Delport represented London and the South East on BBC’s Great British Menu. He went on to win the fish course as well as the main course, making him only the second chef on the history of the show to do so. While showcasing a wide variety of cooking cultures and flavours close to his heart, Jean describes being able to cook two courses at the Great British Menu banquet that was held at Blenheim Palace as “an enormous privilege and a dream come true”.
