During late Spring/early Summer 2021 we invited bartenders from across the county to get creative with a 'mystery box' of locally distilled spirits and other Sussex ingredients.

The surprise box featured spirits from Bolney Estate, Brighton Gin, Brooksteed Gin, Madame Jennifer Distillery and Slake Spirits, plus Fitz English Sparkling Wine, tea from MDTEA, coffee from Redroaster coffee and Wobblegate Orchard juices.
Thirty boxes were snapped up by local bartenders who were then challenged to come up with up to three cocktails featuring the products and, in turn, celebrating Sussex. Out of over 50 cocktails submitted for preliminary judging, five finalists were chosen including Bethany Pogson of Etch by Steven Edwards, Thea Cantelli from Lucky Khao, Harry Roper of The Whiskey Rooms, Alex Preston of Isaac At and Rimantas Poska from Pitch by Kenny Tutt.

All the cocktails were of a high standard and the judges had a difficult task to choose a winner. The finals were hosted with Zoe and Myles from Mixology Group on Sunday 19 September at Merkaba @ My Brighton hotel.
