And it’s a wrap! The BITE Brighton Oyster Festival closed this afternoon with our oyster shucking competition in East Street hosted by Jonathan of @englishsofbrighton

8 professional shuckers competed for the oyster crown but our independent judges @andrewkay100 from Latest TV and Steve @brightonargus revealed Anna from English’s was the fastest shucker with the least penalties. Anna will go on to represent Brighton & Hove at the @londonoysterchampionship in September.

Professionals working in Brighton & Hove hospitality are invited to sign up for the BITE Brighton Oyster Shucking Competition on the afternoon of Sunday 28 June outside English’s of Brighton in East Street.

Our judging panel are looking for a combination of style, speed and clean presentation with the winner being crowned Oyster Queen or King of Brighton & Hove. Generously sponsored by Burger & Lobster, all oysters shucked on the day will be sold at £1 each for the Martlet’s hospice charity @martletshospice

Not only that, our B&H winner goes through to represent the city at the London Oyster Championships in September with the chance to compete at the World Oyster Opening Championship in Galway.

Cheer on Brighton & Hove’s fastest oyster shuckers outside the world-famous English’s of Brighton Restaurant & Oyster Bar on Sunday 28 June from 3pm.

Professionals from the city’s best seafood restaurants will go head-to-head competition to see who can shuck the cleanest and quickest with the winner being crowned Brighton Oyster Queen or King of the Year!

Oysters shucked during the competition are available to spectators at £6 for a half dozen with all money donated to Martlets hospice. Our thanks English’s for hosting this event and to Burger & Lobster for sponsoring the competition oysters.

Professionals from the city’s best seafood restaurants will go head-to-head competition to see who can shuck the cleanest and quickest with the winner being crowned Brighton Oyster Queen or King of the Year!

Oysters shucked during the competition are available to spectators at £6 for a half dozen with all money donated to Martlets hospice. Our thanks English’s for hosting this event and to Burger & Lobster for sponsoring the competition oysters.
